PTO Meetings
PTO MEETING MINUTES
March 17, 2011
7:20 P.M.
All in attendance: Heidi Parrish, Danna Wimmer, Ashli Nilsson,
Debbie Lewis, Katrina McKinnell, Kathryn Kirsch
Board Members Present: Ann Sineath, Anne Barrett, Regina Rumisek, & Amy Bontrager

1. Principal’s Report:
Math Night at Publix was a success. Parents had a lot of positive feedback. The new method of combining levels made the night flow more smoothly for parents with multiple grade level siblings.
Spring pictures are on March 18th. Next week the Venice Symphony will be here.
March 22, 2011 the chorus, ORF, and Jazz band will perform with the NP High students. 2 other elementary schools will also participate.
4th grade field trip: they are going to Spanish Point next week.
Thursday March 24th: 6:00-8:00/Family Media Night: Authors will be here to show their books. There will be signings. Sarasota Reading Council will be here as well. There will be professional development from 5:00-6:00.
Cooking Club for 2nd grade started this week. In addition to the lesson they also had movement activities that corresponded with the lesson.
April 1st: Professional Day for staff.
End of the quarter is March 31st. Reports Cards will go home on April 13th.
Citizen of the month/Café’ PBS activity will be on the 29th of March during the day.
2. Box Top Winners: Parrish, Figgy, Pornichak, Bontrager, Purdin, Ulmer, Boggess, Peer
Ice Cream Party will be on Friday, March 25th . We exceeded our Box Tops goal by $200.
3. Pride-A-Thon funds and results
We collected $2,000 in donations. PTO is going to donate the Pride-A-Thon money for plants at the outdoor study area. The winning classes will get a pizza party Friday, March 18th.
4. Rummage Sale
The Rummage Sale is on Saturday March 26th from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM. The PTO will be selling food and the playgrounds will be open. We have had several rummage sale spots rented and the weather should be good. Lost and Found items will be available for pick-up.
5. Mother’s Day Cakes
Orders are coming in. Money is due by March 18th but we will accept late orders as well. Ann Sineath is the contact person for the event.
6. Election Nomination Open
Nominations are now open for the 2011-2012 PTO Board. The bylaws are posted on the PTO website and available for viewing at the front office. The bylaws describe each PTO Board position and duties of the position. Nominations can be placed in the PTO mailroom box or submitted at the front office.
Ann Sineath was nominated for president, Regina Rumisek for Treasurer, Anne Barrett for vice president and Dana Wimmer for secretary.
There will be a sign by the PTO/PALS computer to let parents know that the elections will be held at the next PTO meeting.
There is no school on April 22nd

Board Elections will be held at the next PTO meeting on April 21,2011.
