Help Stop a Thief and Don't be a Victim

Tips from the North Port Police Department:
1. Do not leave valuables in your car. This includes purses, computers, wallets, jewelry, cellular phones, briefcases and backpacks.
2. Always keep your vehilce locked.
3. Do not leave any containers, packages, bags, etc. in plain view. Secure your automatic garage door opener.
4. Park your vehicle in a well lit area with high pedestrian activity.
5. Do not be seen using your interior release button. Place all valuables in your trunk prior to reaching your destination.
6. Always lock your doors and keep your windows up while pumping gas. (Many items have been stolen by persons walking by
and reaching into cars then running away while people pump gas.)
7. Do not leave a running car unattented.
